Questions

Is my subtitle file uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

What is the difference between SRT and VTT?

Both hold timed captions. SRT uses commas in timestamps (00:00:01,000) and numbers each caption. WebVTT (VTT) uses dots, starts with "WEBVTT", and is the format web video players and HTML5 <track> expect.

My subtitles are out of sync. How do I fix them?

Enter how many seconds to move them. Use a positive number if the subtitles appear too early, and a negative number if they appear too late.

The subtitles drift further out of sync over time. Why?

The video was probably converted to a different frame rate, for example from 23.976 to 25 fps. Pick that change under "Frame rate" and the timings are stretched to match.

Can I make subtitles from a video that has none?

Yes. AllNote Transcribe turns the audio into SRT and VTT subtitles. The first 5 minutes are free.
